3. What war was going on when the Anthem was written, and which country were we fighting? War of 1812 against England
4. What American fort was being attacked when the Anthem was written? Fort McHenry near Baltimore, Maryland.
5. What year did the Anthem officially become our National Anthem? 1931, signed into law by President Hoover.
We have one last RARE award before the weekend. This young lady earned her award for staying focused and on task in class. She is very accountable.
This is our first RARE 5th grade student of the year! Her teacher says she has all the RARE qualities. She takes pride in her school work and is prepared and ready to learn every day. Keep up the great work!
RARE award earners come in all grades and sizes. They can earn the RARE award from Kinder to 6th grade. Yesterday we had two RARE students that earned RARE certificates. One certificate was for Accountability because she completes her reading log and does her work in class. The other student was very responsible and earned his award for doing his best in everything he does.
This week has been a great week for RARE students. We have many responsible students. They do what they are asked, when they are asked. They remain focused even if their neighbor gets off task. They complete work and follow classroom rules. They are amazingly RARE students.
We also received the RARE bracelets this week so if your child earns a RARE award they will receive a RARE bracelet.
Our third weekly Math check in for Sept:
The sophomore class has been busy learning about polygons and quadrilaterals in their Geometry Class.
They are learning how to prove theorems and solve problems involving polygons and parallelograms.
Recognize and Apply the properties of rectangles, rhombi, squares, kites, and trapezoids, and determine whether quadrilaterals are parallelograms and whether parallelograms are rectangles.

Checking in with Math once again: From the desk of Mrs. Schrock.
Let's talk about Aleks.
Aleks.com is an online program created by McGraw Hill that uses an initial grade level test to determine if the student has mastered the required standards for the grade level. We use Aleks on most Fridays because it's a shorter day, and this allows students to get caught up from the week before they head into their weekend.
Aleks is also a way for students to earn bonus points towards their grades by completing extra topics. This not only helps their learning but helps their grade.
The initial test will assign a number of topics that the student needs to work on to master the requirements for the grade level. It's a way to differentiate levels of the same materials so that every students needs are being met. If a students masters all the requirements of their current grade level, they are allowed to move up into the next grade (on Aleks) to continue their learning. Making sure every student's learning needs are being met.
Senior Banners and Fall Sports team banners are up in the Stapleton gym for 2024-2025. Thank you to the Stapleton booster club and those who donate for making this possible for our seniors and teams!
