Greetings everyone,
As we embrace the transition into August and the steady increase of personnel and patrons returning to the building - I would like to take a moment to thank many of our staff members who have been working diligently all summer to really make the classrooms, building and surrounding area look amazing.
Our summer custodial staff - Paula Goffena, Bo McVay, Bob Deardoff and Holly Schaeffer have really done an outstanding job preparing the building for the return of staff and students. From making the floors sparkle, to brightening the walls, relocating furniture, discarding unusable materials and completing considerable work on the surrounding fields and grounds - they have truly done a remarkable job. Add in the work they do with outside contractors who have been tasked with jobs involving installing railings, windows, plumbing modifications, refinishing of the gym floor and electrical improvements - they have really outdone themselves with their efforts this summer. Their unique talents and time management skills are quite a sight to behold. Please join me in thanking them when you see them out and about over the next few weeks.
John Victory and our colleagues at the Educational Service Unit have offered timely tech support to assist during outages caused by multiple storms this summer along with making sure our computers and devices are in working order for the beginning of the school year. We owe a lot of thanks to them as well.
Jeana Hanna and Klara Dailey in the main office have been just as instrumental over the summer - they have been available to process enrollment forms for incoming students, taking care of transcript requests, accepting delivery of new materials both for educational and facility use, answering questions from the public, and organizing transportation and hospitality needs for the staff as we embarked on professional development opportunities across the state. We strive to stay up to date on the latest and greatest trends in the ever evolving educational issues facing the state and our students and that simply does not happen without help from Jeana and Klara.
Lastly, I would like to thank Bridget Weems and Jenni Joedeman for their work on upgrades involving power school. Both of these ladies have attended multiple conferences and worked dozens of hours this summer ensuring that our school is in compliance with state regulations regarding class scheduling, attendance, course codes and other mandatory reporting requirements to the department of education. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes to ensure a successful start to a school year.
Please be on the lookout for more articles over the following days that will be detailing specific changes you can expect to see when school starts again on Wednesday, August 14th.
Sincerely,
Jeremiah Johnson
