Superintendent's Desk

Spring is in the air, and the end of the school year is fast approaching.  I’d like to give a big Thank You to all of parents for your patience and understanding this year, particularly with the seemingly constant changes to the school calendar, schedules, and those pesky snow days.  Please know that these changes are rarely made lightly, as we know how challenging it can be to keep your households organized and running on time, while also keeping safety in mind.

I’d also like to thank the teachers who are leaving this year for their devoted service to the school and community.  Next year we will be without Ms. Gentry Barner – Kindergarten, Mrs. Janet Victory – Secondary Resource, Mrs. Brenda Monson – Elementary Resource, Ms. Syd Schultz – Preschool.   So thank you ladies, we will miss you and wish you the best in your new endeavors.

In the lead up to next year you may see some new faces around, if you do please welcome them.  The new teachers hired for next year are Ms. Emily January – Kindergarten, Ms. Terri Kevorkian – Secondary Resource, Ms. Darci Samuelson – Elementary Resource, and Ms. Katie Powers – Preschool.  We are very thankful to have them all and look forward to having them on our team.

Another change for next year will be the addition of 6th graders to our Junior High sports programs.  Authorized by the Nebraska Department of Education and school board policy, 6th graders may compete with junior high teams when the class enrollment for boys or girls goes below 12 students.  It is important to note that the 6th graders will also require parental permission to compete.  Students in 6th grade all develop at different rates, and some may not be ready for competition, especially in contact sports such as football.  So, we’ll rely heavily on student and parental input when determining participation.

In closing I’d like to congratulate the Class of 2024, who will soon graduate.  You’ve had a wonderful year.  Your smiling faces and unique personalities will certainly be missed.  Don’t be strangers, and thanks Mom and Dad for all your hard work!
