Good afternoon Stapleton Schools Community,
I understand the importance of prompt and thorough communication with you all when it pertains to events both academically and athletically. Sometimes decisions are made in the moment due to the pressure I put on myself to make sure I am as transparent as possible. I know I owe that to the staff, students and parents of the community. Oversights will happen. I am responsible for the actions and decisions made.
So allow me to apologize and explain the earlier communication about the change of location for the yearly spelling bee. As I sent out earlier - it will be held in the main gym as originally scheduled today at 2:00pm.
All events we do carry equal importance to me as a school administrator. Sometimes when faced with a conflict I fall back to "doing the best for the most." That doesn't always come across as intended. It is only natural for some to wonder why a certain decision was made. As we have multiple things going on in the building at any given time I try to maximize the available space and personnel based on the information I have at the time.
Looking back over it the last couple of days it has become apparent that I should have done a better job of vetting all the particulars about what needed to be accomplished in order to provide our students and their families with the best experience possible.
Many factors go into making last minute changes. Time, space, personnel, and other factors outside the school building. Some events are easier to plan than others. I know that with practice and time I will become better organized and more effective, thus eliminating the need to send out multiple messages regarding the same event/topic.
I welcome feedback and questions from others, especially when there is uncertainty about why a particular decision was made. I will always make myself available to our community and its members.
Respectfully,
Jeremiah Johnson
Secondary Principal/Activities Director
