Homecoming week has officially kicked off with the Sandhills Valley Junior High programs facing Mullen today in Tryon.
The Middle School football boys secured their first win of the season in a six-man game played under eight-man rules. The junior Mavericks ran away with the game early on behind a physical and punishing running game. The final score was SVM 52 Mullen 14.
Unfortunately the visiting team from Mullen had the upper hand on the court in Volleyball - winning the first two of three total sets played by both teams. Mullen triumphed by the final scores of 25-11 and 25-22 before losing to the Lady Mavericks in a third set which gave other team members a chance to play for both teams by a score of 25-3.
Homecoming games continue this week on Thursday as both the high school Volleyball and Football teams take their shot at victory against Mullen in Tryon. Volleyball starts at 4:30 pm for a JV match - followed by Varsity at 5:30 pm. Football is scheduled for a 7:00 pm kickoff.
