It’s been a great week for Sandhills Valley Maverick Middle School athletes.
The Junior High Volleyball team won 3 out of 4 sets between their “A” and “B” squads against Wallace earlier this week. Head Coach Chelsey Myers and Assistant Coach Cherie Kramer have been working hard to develop the next generation of Lady Maverick Volleyball players.
While the final outcome wasn’t on the Junior High Football team’s side - Coach Joshua Deines reported a lot of positive things about the first game of the season versus Wallace. The young Mavericks held a lead right up the very end, but couldn’t close the deal. Due to low numbers the football team is playing a 6-man schedule this season.
Lastly the Junior High Girls Cross Country team had a great day at River’s Edge Golf Course in North Platte. The running Mavericks scored three top-10 finishes with eight graders Adelyn Brewer and Avery Weems finishing one-two and pacing the entire field. Coaches Erin and Patrick Hynes have reported all runners have been exceeding expectations so far.
All middle school teams look to improve on their impressive starts next week during the annual homecoming celebrations!
